IPL is a treat to watch without any doubt but it can never replace the hard fought,testing and most competitive form of cricket i.e. test cricket. Though it has given youngsters a platform to prove their mantle and senior players a chance to reinforce their supremacy over and over again,i would like administrators to pay more respect towards test cricket and players to show that their country comes way before the money being offered by the rich IPL.
ReplyDeleteIPL cannot replace test cricket, but this from of cricket could be the only way to promote cricket as a sport across the globe. Only then would the performances and achievments of the cricketing fraternity would be recognized globally. Cricket is already a financially viable sport/profession, when played at the highest level, thanks to India and Lalit "IPL" Modi; it could get more competitive only when more countries get involved. Thanks to IPL we know that India has cricketing talen apart from our official Test XI or the ODI team. i don't think we would have known about the Goni's or the Yusuf pathans from their Ranji performances.

Is this right time to change the composition of MI team?
ReplyDeleteAll well that ends well. But what if the end is not well? Till now MI has won 7 out of their 9 matches and everything seemed to be fine. Young Indian players were performing and MI won those matches also where Sachin did not contribute much.
However, the last match lost to CSK forced me to think that is the team combination right? Should not Sanath and Duminy be in the team? Both West Indians (Bravo and Pollard) are not performing up to the mark and Ryan Mclaren is not a match winner. So, I feel that it is the right time to bring Sanath in place of Mclaren and Duminy in place of one of the WIs. As MIs are almost certain to be in the semi final, this is the perfect time and opportunity to get the team composition right.
IPL is for sure a money spinner event, it gives a chance for the players, apart from the team of 16, to earn big time, also it surely provides the platform for youngsters and provides them the visibility that they desire.
